Primetime Failure, Beginnings / Superbude St. Pauli Hamburg

Another day, another Booze Cruise show. This time they hosted one at Superbude St. Pauli hotel, with which they will also partner up for their festival this summer. Primetime Failure and Beginnings were playing that night, so we were provided with awesome, funny, and straight up cool punk music. It was especially nice for me to see Primetime Failure again for the third time now. Super cool and chill dudes, self-ironic and totally loveable.

clouds. / MTC Cologne

In November 2016, clouds. were the first band that gave me the opportunity to be their band photographer. Since then I shot almost all of their gigs in town, but oddly enough never went on the road with them. That changed last Saturday. They were set to support Friend or Enemy and Reject the Offer at MTC in Cologne.

2018

Today is the last day in the year of 2018. By now, such a thing really doesn’t matter to me anymore. There are rarely substantial changes at the turn of a year, it’s just all about one (sometimes two) damn number. But I’ve had this tradition since 2013 (with the exception of 2016 for some odd reason I can’t remember) to use this opportunity, take a step back, and retrospect on the soon-to-be passed year.

Keele / Millerntor-Stadion Hamburg

Hamburg-based Post Punk band Keele had the chance to play a private show at Sepárée 31, a private booth in the iconic Millerntor Stadion, the football stadium of Hamburgs football team FC St. Pauli. I accompanied them during the day with my camera. The football team won 4:1 against 1. FC Magdeburg, so the band had the best possible conditions to perform after the game.

Kolari / headCRASH Hamburg

So the year is drawing to an end by now and shows are becoming pretty rare during these last days in the year. But my thirst for concerts doesn’t get any less, so I went out to headCRASH to shoot photos of Kolari and Orange Ate Kid when they took over supporting duties for Hafensaengers at their EP release show.

Orange Ate Kid / headCRASH Hamburg

Orange Ate Kid are definitely amongst my favorite local Post Hardcore bands here in Hamburg. Their sound is fairly progressive and really interesting, making for a band that’s not the 1000th copy within its genre. They’re also very cool to photograph, so I just had to shoot their performance (and the one by Kolari) at headCRASH in support of Hafensaengers at their EP release show.

Die Cigaretten / Molotow Hamburg

After Thursday night’s gig of Intergalactic Lovers, I spent last night again at the venue to shoot another band for them. This time German Garage Punk trio Die Cigaretten performed in the Karatekeller basement stage, and they put on a fun and really cool show, and had the crowd dancing away the whole time.

2017

The current year is drawing to a close, and by now everyone is throwing around their yearly reviews und top lists. We at noisiv.de are no exception to that rule, though we’ve gone on a slightly different path with a number of YouTube videos. My personal yearly retrospect will be a lot more conservative though.
